It doesn’t matter how it works, but it’s here, for the first time. Finally we can enjoy 3D cinema without wearing these ridiculous glasses.

Moreover, it is also a 4K TV boosting a staggering 3,840 x 2,160-pixel resolution that is four times higher than a typical full-HD model.

Amazing?

I think so, I’d love to get one of those, but we still don’t know when it is going to be available in Europe and what is more important what will be the price?

Sometimes I’m lucky and during paid sessions I’m able to shoot some extra pictures that will be useful for my portfolio and this thing happened during the last boudoir session I did. I shot this portrait that I think will be suitable for my beauty portfolio.

Unplanned portraits

Sometimes during the shoot I see someone from a team who in my opinion will look great in the picture. During a shoot for one of the designer companies, the owner of the company was present, he was a great character and I wanted to take his portrait. He agreed and I wanted to create a dramatic portrait with a lot of shadows. Something like well known portrait of singer Seal

I wanted to create something mysterious and simple, yet strong.

The lighting that I used was one head with a 2m diameter umbrella.

Glamour or not to glamour?

I rarely visit my native land these days, but last time I was in Poland I received a proposal to shoot a girl who wanted to give some pictures of herself to her fiancée. All I knew was that she would like to have ‘’nice’’ pictures, that’s all. Everything was ready to go. I flew there and met her the day before shooting. We talked over a coffee about my concepts and I thought she would like me to take beauty style portraits, but then… suddenly one word came out that changed everything:

- I would like these pictures to be SEXY, with balloons and me wearing underwear!!!!

I had never shot these styles of pictures before. But what to do now that everything has been paid for and I had flown 1200km, for what? For nothing?

After the meeting I felt crushed and didn’t know what to do, is this a challenge? Is it my next big shoot? Well I’m here now so let’s squeeze as much as I can from this.

Day of the shoot …

We decided to go for three looks if we have time:

1. Girl in a t-shirt

2. Girl in her boyfriends shirt (this look didn’t work well so we decided to scrap it)

3. Girl in a corset

I was scared that it would be a painful shoot and that she wouldn’t relax and she would be camera shy, but it was actually very smooth. She was very relaxed in front of the camera, MUA was great and I really loved her advice on the day.

‘Girl in a t-shirt’ I stylised to look like a cover shot for a men’s style magazine. With a lot of lighting in total, I used 4 heads.

The third look we decided to shoot was in glamour style, beautiful, very intimate and a full of drama boudoir shoot. Not so much lighting, just 2 heads and a reflector. I love this type of lighting so I was excited about this styling.

The most important thing for me was that she was happy, and what was the most important for her was that her fiancée loved it. I’m glad that he could see her in a bit of a different light.

Would I do it again?

Yes. It was a great experience and it is not so much different from shooting beauty, there is just more trust and understanding required during this

type of shoot.

Some time ago myself and the creative team at Elements created pictures having taken part in two hair competitions helping them become finalists both the L’oreal Colour Trophy Mens Image Award and the American Crew Competition.

But recently I’ve received an issue of Hairdressers Journal and on opening – Bang !!!

Here it is. I’m very happy about this. Congratulations to all involved.

I love working with new companies with their fresh view on things and their enthusiasm to try new ideas. Working with them sometimes involves a bumpy ride but, most of the time the fruits of this cooperation are very satisfying. Here is the outcome of my cooperation with one of these companies. These are very classic designs but with a fresh twist. I know they are going to be very successful and I’m glad to be part of working with them.

Cadillac – car from my American Dreams :)

When I got married, my wife and I wanted something special to take us to the ceremony so we hired an old Cadillac. I fell in love with this car and I wanted to take some pictures, so the day after our wedding I did just that.

I didn’t have as much time with the car as I’d like to and I didn’t have much of a lighting kit, but I wanted to shoot this car so badly that I couldn’t resist.

We went outdoor so I could use daylight. I didn’t want to shoot another wide angle pictures with an American feeling like one on the left.

Not that it looks bad I just wanted to focus on details, just shoot them, the geometric lines of the body and the old school designs of the interior.

I’m still missing full body shots and I would love to do that one day with flashes and a proper background, I’m still thinking how to light her.

Richmond Dream

I love children’s stories about forests full of magic where every tree has its wisdom and from every dark corner there are reflections of strange sets of eyes looking at you.

This magic is what I’m missing in nature photography.

It is more about mirroring nature showing beauty of this world seen in the front of one’s eyes, not telling its stories, mysterious and secret. I respect my friends who are nature photographers but most of the time it is just beauty of the world captured on film. Or am I missing something?

I love taking pictures of nature, but for me there is always the same problem. If you want to use high F-stop you will end up with overall sharpness. You have tree the way you want but if it is too close to bushes that are in the background; your picture will be full of too much detail. Everything will be sharp and it will lose its poetry.

I’d love to have sharp tree with blurry background, which is why I love to photograph nature when it’s foggy.

Winter is gone and I’ve scanned my old films I used to take some pictures in Richmond Park. I have always loved fog; its mystery and uncertainty. You don’t know what is behind the corner.

In photography I love to use it to cut out objects from the background. You can add more by changing distance from the background or from your subject.

When it is foggy you can use as high aperture as you wish, it doesn’t matter because the background will be white.

That is why I always try to go to park when it’s foggy. You can see different world. The world described in old fairy tales.
